How is this different from the Thyroid + Antibodies Panel?
This test answers whether your thyroid is working normally right now. The panel adds Free T3 plus TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies, which help show whether the immune system is involved. With a known thyroid condition, a family history of autoimmune thyroid disease, or a previous abnormal result, the panel is usually the better pick.
Do I need to fast?
No. Thyroid hormones don't require fasting. Morning is the most consistent time to test.
What does a high TSH mean?
Usually that the thyroid isn't producing enough hormone, so the brain is asking for more. How much that matters depends on how high it is, what Free T4 shows, and your symptoms.
