Optimal Health Panel
Our deepest look at how your body is actually running: 65+ biomarkers and health scores across every major system, including your estimated biological age, in one fasted blood draw.
One-time payment of A$499. GST included. No subscription.
What this panel measures
- Blood Health: Full blood count — 14 markers including haemoglobin, red and white cell counts, platelets and the white cell differential.
- Cardiovascular: Full lipid profile plus ApoB and hs-CRP — the modern heart markers most people have never had measured.
- Kidney & Electrolytes: Creatinine, eGFR, urea, sodium, potassium and electrolytes — 7 markers.
- Liver: ALT, AST, GGT, ALP, bilirubin, albumin and total protein — 7 markers.
- Thyroid: TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 — the full thyroid picture, tested upfront.
- Metabolic: HbA1c, fasting glucose, fasting insulin and urate — including the inputs for your insulin-resistance score.
- Minerals & Vitamins: Magnesium, vitamin D and ferritin.
- Hormones: The complete 11-marker hormone picture — total and free testosterone, SHBG, FAI, cortisol, DHEA-S, IGF-1, oestradiol, LH, FSH and prolactin.
- Health Scores: 12 derived scores computed from your results — insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), liver score (FIB-4), TyG index, remnant cholesterol, bioavailable testosterone and more.
- Biological Age: A research-based estimate of how old your body is running, calculated from nine of your markers using the published PhenoAge algorithm (Levine 2018). Educational, not a diagnosis.
Who this panel is for
Have you noticed any of these:
- putting real effort into sleep, training and diet with no data on whether it's working
- energy, recovery or drive not what it was — and wanting to look everywhere at once
- curious how old your body is running, not just your birth certificate
- wanting one deep baseline so every future test shows exactly what's changed
- previous 'normal' results that never looked at hormones, insulin or inflammation
- making a serious change this year and wanting to measure the before and after
How it works
- Order online, no GP referral needed.
- Visit any of 2,000+ accredited collection centres across Australia.
- Results delivered same day to your personal dashboard with clear explanations.
Sample and turnaround
Single blood draw at any Sonic-network collection centre. Fasting is REQUIRED for this panel: no food for 8–12 hours before your draw (water is fine). Fasting glucose, insulin and triglycerides feed your insulin-resistance score and biological age. A morning visit makes the fast easy. Results back same day.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to fast before this test?
Yes. This is the one panel where fasting is required, not just recommended. Fast for 8–12 hours before your blood draw; water is fine. Fasting glucose, insulin and triglycerides are only meaningful on an empty stomach, and they feed your insulin-resistance score and biological age.
What is my Biological Age?
A research-based estimate of how old your body is running, calculated from nine of your blood markers plus your age using PhenoAge — an algorithm published by Levine and colleagues in 2018 and used widely in ageing research. The method is fully public. It's an educational estimate for tracking, not a medical assessment.
How is this different from the Core Health Panel?
It includes everything in Core Health, then goes deeper everywhere: the full 11-marker hormone picture, full thyroid with Free T3 upfront, the modern heart markers ApoB and hs-CRP, and fasting insulin and glucose — which unlock the insulin-resistance score and your biological age. Core Health can't compute those.
How often should I retest?
This panel is designed as a baseline you retest against. Once a year suits most people; every six months if you're actively working on training, nutrition, sleep or supplements and want to watch your markers and biological age respond.

Guides
- Heart markers beyond cholesterol — A standard cholesterol test covers four numbers. Markers like ApoB, lipoprotein(a), homocysteine and hs-CRP give a fuller picture of cardiovascular risk — and most people have never had them measured.
- Private blood test cost — Private blood tests in Australia range from $35 for single biomarkers up to $500+ for comprehensive panels. What you're paying for, what drives the cost, and when private testing is worth it.
Biomarkers explained
- ApoB — ApoB counts the actual number of artery-clogging particles in your blood — many researchers consider it a sharper cardiovascular risk marker than LDL cholesterol.
- HbA1c — HbA1c is your average blood sugar over the last 3 months — the single best test for diabetes risk and long-term metabolic health.
- Cortisol — Cortisol is your primary stress hormone — and a useful marker for sleep, recovery and adrenal function.
