CRP Blood Test
One number for how much inflammation is going on in your body. High-sensitivity CRP, the marker a standard cholesterol check leaves out. Our simplest test.
One-time payment of A$35. GST included. No subscription.
What this panel measures
- CRP (high-sensitivity): C-reactive protein made by the liver in response to inflammation. The high-sensitivity assay reads accurately at the low, persistent levels linked to long-term heart and metabolic health.
Who this panel is for
Have you noticed any of these:
- told your cholesterol is fine but want a fuller picture of heart health
- carrying extra weight around the middle, or a family history of heart disease or diabetes
- feeling run down, achy or slow to recover for no clear reason
- changed diet, training or sleep and want to see whether it's moving the needle
- a previous result flagged inflammation and you want to recheck it when well
How it works
- Order online, no GP referral needed.
- Visit any of 2,000+ accredited collection centres across Australia.
- Results delivered same day to your personal dashboard with clear explanations.
Sample and turnaround
Single blood draw, no fasting required. If you're unwell, injured or have just trained very hard, wait a week or two so the result reflects your baseline rather than a short-term spike. Results back same day.
Frequently asked questions
What's actually included when I buy this test?
One high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) measurement from a single blood draw, reported in mg/L with the lab's reference range and a plain-English explanation on your dashboard.
Is this the same as a standard CRP test?
Same protein, more sensitive assay. Standard CRP is designed to spot acute inflammation such as infection. hs-CRP measures accurately at the low end, which is where the values relevant to long-term cardiovascular and metabolic health sit.
Do I need to fast?
No. If you're unwell or have just done a very hard training session, wait a week or two so the result reflects your baseline.
What does a high CRP mean?
It means there's inflammation somewhere; it doesn't say where or why. A single raised reading is often a passing infection, so the usual approach is to retest when you're well. If it stays elevated, discuss it with your doctor alongside your other results.
Should I get the Cardiovascular Risk Panel instead?
If heart health is the question, probably yes. The panel includes hs-CRP alongside a full lipid profile, ApoB and homocysteine. This standalone test is the right pick if you only want to track CRP, or you're rechecking a previous result.

Guides
- Heart markers beyond cholesterol — A standard cholesterol test covers four numbers. Markers like ApoB, lipoprotein(a), homocysteine and hs-CRP give a fuller picture of cardiovascular risk — and most people have never had them measured.
- Private blood test cost — Private blood tests in Australia range from $35 for single biomarkers up to $500+ for comprehensive panels. What you're paying for, what drives the cost, and when private testing is worth it.
Biomarkers explained
- CRP — CRP is the most accessible measure of systemic inflammation in your body — a low-key but powerful health signal.
- ApoB — ApoB counts the actual number of artery-clogging particles in your blood — many researchers consider it a sharper cardiovascular risk marker than LDL cholesterol.
- Homocysteine — Homocysteine is an amino acid that, when elevated, is associated with cardiovascular and cognitive risk — and it's often linked to your B-vitamin status, which makes it a frequently modifiable marker.
